Deadly overtake on Queen’s Highway leaves one dead, two critical
A woman is dead and two men are in critical condition following a collision between a Toyota RAV4 and a Toyota Hiace along the Queen's Highway near the St Ann and Trelawny border early this morning, a corridor long regarded as a deadly accident hot spot.
The deceased, who was driving the vehicle at the time, has been identified as a resident of Spicy Hill in Trelawny.
Reports are that the RAV4, which was heading towards Discovery Bay, attempted to overtake a line of traffic when it crashed into an oncoming Toyota Hiace. The driver died on the spot.
The two male passengers who were travelling in the RAV4 with her were rushed to the Falmouth Hospital in critical condition.
The driver of the Hiace was pinned inside the vehicle and had to be cut from the wreckage by firefighters.
Police and emergency responders remain on the scene and investigations are ongoing.
