Racing United handed champions Cavalier their second straight defeat in the Jamaica Premier League (JPL), with a 4-1 win over the reigning champions at Stadium East on Sunday.

Nickyle Ellis led the way for the Portmore-based team, opening the scoring after just two minutes, before adding a second in first-half stoppage time.

Romarion Thomas pulled a goal back for Cavalier in the 76th minute. But De Andre Thomas (85th) and Tajay Grant 87th scored to ensure Racing a comfortable victory.

The win kept the Anthony Patrick-coached team in third with 22 points, two behind leaders Portmore United and one adrift of Montego Bay United, who play today in the second match of a doubleheader against Arnett Gardens at Anthony Spaulding Sports Complex.

At the Ferdi Neita Park, Warner Brown bagged a brace as Mount Pleasant Football Academy beat Portmore United 2-0.

Brown put Mount Pleasant in front from the penalty spot in the 31st minute, before doubling the lead in time added to the first half.

"We are finding our footing in the league," said Mount Pleasant's head coach Theodore Whitmore. "Game after game we have improved.

"It is not easy to come to Ferdi Neita and get two goals against a Portmore team, it is always a difficult task coming here. But overall we did what we came here to do," he said.

Portmore United's head coach Rodolph Austin said the goals they gave up were uncharacteristic of their usually reliable defence.

"The two goals that we conceded is not in our DNA. We lost to the champions of the Caribbean. But we gave a good account of ourselves," he said.

Mount Pleasant moved two places up the table to fourth with 16 points, ahead of Cavalier on goal difference.

The other matches between Dunbeholden and Chapelton Maroons, and Harbour View against Molynes United ended in goalless draws.

However, at Harbour View Mini Stadium, both teams were reduced to 10 men, with Harbour View's Roshawn Oldfield getting his marching orders in the 61st minute, and Molynes United's Romario McPherson following suit five minutes after.

Harbour View moved to seventh in the standings with 13 points, while Chapelton (12 points) and Dunbeholden (10 points) are 10th and 11th, respectively.

Molynes stayed second from bottom on nine points, seven clear of Spanish Town Police, behind Treasure Beach on goal difference.
